C-Tran only charges 24% of the actual cost - your tax pays the rest

The fundamental principle of Mass transit is that of saving money by transporting a lot of people at once. However this model has been broken for decades as transit ridership has declined and costs have soared.

C-Tran’s annual financial report shows that bus riders only pay 24% of their actual cost (Page 65).

C-Tran plans to increase its ridership, so it is also planning on getting more tax money to pay for these new riders, since each one will require more tax subsidy.
